12. 外部資金
科学研究費補助金
1) 奨励研究 1994年 フエダイ科魚類の資源生物学的研究（代表） 1200千円
　南日本の水産上重要なフエダイ科３種の産卵期、産卵場、生活史の概要を明らかにした。また、１種と思われていたヨコスジフエダイは２種（ヨコスジフエダイとタテフエダイ）存在することが、生物学的情報から明らかにした。

2) 一般研究(C) 1995-1996年 沿岸性魚類の生活史のパターン化と適切な資源管理・増殖対策の検討 (代表) 2200千円
　フエダイ類のような大きな回遊を行う生活史特性から我国における適切な資源管理・増殖対策の提示を行った。また、東アジア大陸（中国、台湾、韓国および日本）のフエダイ類とそれ以外のインド・西部太平洋のフエダイ類とは全く異なるグループが異なり、生活史も異なることを指摘した。

3) 基盤研究(C) 1998-2000年 インド−西部太平洋におけるクロサギ科魚類の分類学的再検討(代表) 2700千円
　温帯から熱帯域の沿岸生態系において、最もありふれた、また最優占種でもあり、他肉食性魚類のエサでもあり、沿岸生態系の資源のすそのを支えている同定の難しい魚類の分類学的研究再検討を行った。有効種は８種しか知られていなかったが、8新種を含む２５種の存在が明らかとなった。これにより世界的な評価を受け、FAOの魚類顧問、世界的な有名な魚類の本（J. L. B. Smith’s Fishes）の著者となった。

4) 基盤研究(C) 2001-2003年　スズキ亜目ヒゲダイ属魚類の分類学的研究およびその帰属に関する研究（代表） 2900千円
　４種知られていたが、３新種７種の存在が明らかになった。それらは学名が混乱して、誤った学名で我国や韓国に多くの冷凍魚がオーストラリアから輸入されていたが、正しい学名を提示した。

5) 基盤研究(C) 2004-2006年 全海洋域におけるタチウオ科タチウオ属魚類の分類学的再検討(代表）3500千円
水産上重要なタチウオTrichiurus lepturusは世界に１種という極端な見解が出されていたが、我国では１種あるいは２種と見解が分かれていた。遺伝および形態学的研究から世界には4新種を含む13種が有効種であると判断し、更にタチウオと混同されていた新属新種Demissolinea novaeguineensis Burhanuddin & Iwatsuki, 2003、及び１有効種の別属（Lepturacanthus）１種を合わせて整理した。日中韓漁業交渉で問題となっていたが、日本・韓国に２種、中国に３種が認められることが明確になった。

1) 学生と色々な話をするのが趣味。学生の研究の邪魔をしているとの噂も聞く。

2) 30年ぶりに熱帯魚・海水魚飼育を始めた。ソラ、シルキ、アカネハナダイ等。 最近の飼育用具の進歩に驚いている。

3) 5年前にホームシアター（120インチ）にはまり、私設ヤマトイトヒキサギ映画 館を創設。近所迷惑だが、夜中に轟音でみるとほんと楽しい。初年度は250本みた。 また、SACDやDVDの高音質の音楽や声楽を聞くこと。弦楽器が好き。　

4) 昨年ピアノを始めた。楽譜は読めないが、ビデオで人のをみながら手が覚えて １曲、遅いが弾けるようになった。J. S. Bachのメヌエット。が、左手がついていか ない。頭の訓練になるので、年１曲を目指したい。

5）和風創作料理を気分転換でたまに作っている。個人的な割烹・郷土料理の店、 「幸岳泉」（こうがくせん）を市内に持ち、気分で店を開けている。気分で客人をお 迎えし、ご批評を仰ぎ、次の客人に備えている。
