SowterーNeo
It non-invasively measures the bodies of low-birth-weight infants inside incubators.
- 👶 **Target:** Especially effective for extremely low birth weight infants and other delicate newborns.
- 👶 **Technical Overview:** Data captured by a 3D camera is analyzed using AI and deep learning, then fitted to a 3D standard newborn model to estimate each body measurement.
- 👶 **Output:** The estimated measurements are displayed in real time on AR glasses.
- 👶 **Benefit:** Reduces the mental and time burden on medical staff.
Benefits and Performance of Sowter-Neo
For newborns—particularly preterm infants—measurements such as weight, head circumference, and body length are essential indicators of health. However, during examinations and clinical care, especially for preterm infants, healthcare providers are required to perform procedures as non-invasively as possible, minimizing the amount of time they physically touch the infant.
Safe and contact-free. A gentler form of care for newborns.
- Number of nurses required: 2 → 1
- Time: Within 5 seconds
- Reduces the mental and time burden on medical professionals.
It reduces the burden on medical staffs in the NICU and makes it easy to monitor growth without causing stress to either the medical staff or the newborn.
